The Delfin gas deposit can be divided into several lots - Orzhel

19.02.2020

As early as March, the Delfin offshore oil and gas field can be tendered in several lots in order to attract as many international companies as possible to gas production in Ukraine.

This was stated by the Minister of Energy and Environmental Protection Oleksiy Orzhel during the presentation of the work report of the Ministry of the Verkhovna Rada Committee

"We hope to divide the Delfin field into three or four lots. This is a big investment project. We will ask the president and the prime minister to help us, we will travel and attract investors," said Orzhel.

According to him, negotiations have already been held with major international energy companies, in particular, Azerbaijanian SOCAR.

We will remind you:

As reported, the tender was announced on April 12. However, the application deadline was reduced by the government to 60 days, so it expired on June 12.

On June 11, the head of the PA called for the continuation of the competition for the conclusion of PSA for the "Delfin" site on the Black Sea shelf for at least 120 days.

The tender for the development of the Delfin oil and gas field on the shelf of the Black Sea was won by the company Trident Black Sea, ex-deputy of the State Duma of the russian federation Ilya Ponomarev.

The Association of Gas Production Companies stated that the tender for the development of the Delfin oil and gas field on the Black Sea shelf was conducted in a substandard format and may have negative consequences for the production of hydrocarbons in Ukraine. Earlier, journalists found out that the right to develop and extract hydrocarbons in one of the largest gas-bearing areas in the Black Sea "Delfin" can be obtained by an American company with a dubious reputation - Frontera Resources.

The company has questionable projects in Moldova and Georgia, and its financial report for part of 2017 and 2018 shows that the company is unprofitable.

Market participants claimed that the authorities were artificially restricting applicants for gas extraction on the site on the sea shelf.

On September 11, the Cabinet of Ministers invalidated its resolution on the launch of a competition for the development of the Delfin shelf area under the terms of production sharing.
